UAE’s Mashreq Bank said Friday that it has signed a regional sponsorship agreement with Argentina’s national football team until 2023. The deal makes Mashreq the first and exclusive bank to sponsor the bank in the Middle East and Egypt.
Under the agreement, Mashreq will be the ambassador of the Middle East and Egypt region for the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The bank will launch official joint campaigns featuring the Argentine national team and will have the team players starring in its promotional campaigns.
“The agreement allows our association to consolidate its global leadership position in the football environment,” Claudio Fabian Tapia, the President of AFA said in a statement.
The deal between Mashreq and the Argentine national team coincides with the largest international football tournament, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
“Partnering with the Argentine Football Association during the 2022 FIFA World Cup provides us with an opportunity to be associated with one of the most popular and most followed sports in the world, by both men and women– and especially so with the World Cup being held here in the Arab world for the first time,” Ahmed Abdelaal, Group CEO of Mashreq said in the statement.
Argentina’s national team holds a high status in the hearts of football fans in the Middle East region and the sponsorship deal with Mashreq brings together two leading organisations collaborating to celebrate the passion for the sport.
